Sterile Ayre spatula, plastic

A sterile spatula for cytology is a medical device used to collect a  sample from the endocervical canal. A plastic spatulas Ayre for PAP test are commonly used in medical settings because they are lightweight, disposable, and relatively inexpensive. 

A plastic spatulas Ayre have U-shaped openings on one side and a flat surface on the other. The broad end is for vaginal sample collection and the narrow end is for cervical sample collection.
