After delivery, a curettage may be necessary to remove remnants of the placenta, as well as blood clots from the uterine cavity that prevent the uterine walls from contracting and pose a threat of bleeding and infection. With the help of a vaginal speculum, the insert is dissolved, and the cervix is fixed with forceps, after which it is treated with an aseptic solution. With the help of the rigid endometrial curettes, a revision of the uterine walls is made, and the removed material is sent for histological examination.
